Tioman Island

Tioman is a beautiful island, with a tropical climate, and nature one most likely only has seen on the National Geographic Channel! Tioman island is the largest island on Peninsular Malaysia it's east coast. The island is located in the South China Sea, The size of the island is about 36 km long and 19 km at it's greatest width. Besides the breathtaking reefs for snorkelers and divers, another attraction of the island is it's tropical rain forest, with trees of over 1000 years old, a hilly inland forest and small flat land areas along the coast. Walking through the jungle is a popular activity for visitors. Besides the huge trees, you might run into some of the following animals: There is some unique species of mammals, which include some protected ones like: binturong, long taled macaque, slow loris, black giant squirrel, brush tailed porcupine, red-giant flying squirrel, common palm civet and mouse deer. There is about 138 species of birds on the island, the most common of which is the hill myna. There is 25 species of snakes, included the reticulated python, gras green whip snake, common black cobra, king cobra, and variable reed snake. Most likely one will run into some monkeys, butterflies and monitor lizards. These ones you almost can't miss. |
